Do you know the exact halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole? It's beautiful downtown Stewiacke, Nova Scotia.
And do you know the best place to be in Stewiake? It's Junior's Diner. And the best time to be there is at 4:30 in the afternoon - because that's when Junior's Diner closes.
And that's when head waitress Janine lets Rita, Vi, and Mary Ellen sneak in, then locks the door. There the four Diner Divas meet to share gossip, romance, bawdy tales, and the true meaning of life and friendship.
But what suddenly spices up Junior's Diner is the arrival one day of a stranger at closing time - Dr. Sean Merritt.
Dr. Sean is in town on a locum. He's handsome and recently separated, which is a huge plus. But he's from Toronto - a huge minus.
Nonetheless, the women find him irresistible and can't help but give him a true East Coast welcome, each in their own way. Except for Janine. And that's where life at the Diner gets really interesting for Janine and Dr. Sean - and all the more fun for the other women - and us.
The play is a story of laughter and surprise. As one theatre critic put it: "It's filled with Maritime wit and wisdom... it has sugar, and spice, and everything nice with a big dash of Maritime salt."
Miracle Theatre is donating this production to the Prince George Community Foundation. Over the years, the Foundation has granted over 1.9 million dollars to worthy community groups such as the Child Development Centre, Prince George Hospice, Big Brothers Big Sisters, PG Branch of Autism BC, S.O.S. Society, and Mustard Seed in Prince George.
Originally from the Shuswap, Rebecca is a graduate of the University of Victoria & Queen’s University. Just like “Dr. Sean Merrit” in Halfway There, Abraham is Toronto based, and now in beautiful Prince George for the first time. Abraham has been a part of many theatre companies across Canada, now breaking the west end barrier to be a part of this nation’s most lustrous province. Favourite credits include Test Drive (LHT), Raging Dreams (TG), and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (MT).
Dolores Drake has been working in Theatre, Film and TV for 30 years.
In Theatre she has worked for numerous companies across the country, including Theatre Northwest, Arts Club, Belfry, Citadel, and Richmond Gateway,
Prince George audiences may remember her from, Ivor Johnson’s Neighbors, The Invisibility of Eileen, Lend Me a Tenor, and 1949.
In feature film, she has worked with world-renowned directors Joel Schumacher, Bill Forsythe, Anne Wheeler. and Alan Rudolph. Her recent film credits include Richard Says Goodbye {with Johnny Depp}, Always Be my Maybe {for Netflix}, Spontaneous, Cop and a Half, and Critters.
For TV she has played supporting lead roles in several TV movies including The Pastor’s Wife, Love Struck Café, Love Once and Always, Finding Santa and A Carousel Christmas. Check out her full list on IMDB.
Dolores has also written, produced and performed in three of her own one-woman plays: Randall’s Wake, From Away and The Distance Between Newfoundland and Toronto.
As a Writer/Director she has created several plays for youth and is in high demand as a Private Coach. She has been teaching and coaching for 20 years and created her own Professional Development Program for youth who want to act. She is a graduate of Studio 58.
Linda, a graduate of Studio 58, has been a professional actor and writer for over 25 years. She has performed in theatres across Canada and toured to Japan, Europe and Australia. Linda has written several plays, including Dying To Be Thin (Jessie Award), Mom’s The Word (co-wrote, Jessie Award), George And Martha (Adapted from James Marshal) Hear To Here (Carousel Players) Jack and The Bean (playing at Theatre Northwest this spring!) and So, How Should I Be? Linda’s latest acting credits include Sleeping Beauty Dreams (Marionetas de la Esquina), Where the Wild Things Are, (PHT), Rocket and the Queen of Dreams, (Roseneathe Theatre) and Brighten Beach Memoirs (Theatre Northwest). Linda is excited to be back working with Ted and Anne in this great city where she grew up, Prince George!
Melissa is a Vancouver based theatre professional, and she is absolutely thrilled to be back in Prince George! She performed in the very first Miracle Project as Bev in Miracle on South Division Street and appeared on stage at Theatre North West as Alma in Privilege. Melissa is an accomplished actor having performed with dozens of theatre companies across Canada. Favourite credits include Les Belles Soeurs, The Duchess (Ruby Slippers), She Stoops to Conquer, Boeing Boeing, The Audience (Arts Club), Three Musketeers, Little Women (Citadel Theatre), Flare Path (Slamming Door), A Beautiful View (Naked Goddess), Mrs. Warren’s Profession (Alley Theatre), Macbeth (Kaleidoscope Theatre), Guys and Dolls (Studio 58), Oklahoma! (Theatre Under the Stars). Melissa is a two time Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nominee and a graduate of the conservatory acting program at Studio 58 in Vancouver.
Sherry has worked across Canada as an actor, director, writer, and producer for over thirty years. She is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, and the co-founder of LunaSea Theatre Company in Halifax, NS. In 2008, she received the Merritt Award as Best Actress for her role as Winnie in Beckett’s Happy Days. Sherry has performed with Toronto Free Theatre, Manitoba Theatre Centre, The Royal Alex, The Grand, Young People's Theatre, Shaw Festival (six seasons), GCTC, TNB, Neptune, Festival Antigonish, Ship's Company, TNL, Stephenville Festival and TNW. She has written a one woman show, Woman of Labrador: The Elizabeth Goudie Story, a portion of which has been published and taught in Atlantic Canadian high schools. In 2016, she completed her MFA in Theatre Voice Pedagogy, and taught sessional work at U of A, Mount Allison University and Dalhousie. Best of all, she is Mom to three grown kids!
